Synopsis

Sex, Drugs, and Aliens: What happens when childhood superheroes hit their teenage years and are forced into the shadows of their former glory? Chris and Sara Sheridan were once child superheroes who fought for good. Five years ago, they vanished out of the public eye, leaving the world to wonder what happened to them. They had stepped back from the crazy life of heroes and villains to “grow up” as normal kids. As they faded from the limelight, much like child actors who get older, other things seem to take the place of the “action” that they are now missing.

What seemed like an anxious, self-doubting, pill-popping, and an angst-ridden teenaged retirement for the once super siblings Chris AKA “Kid Danger” and  Sara AKA “The Melter” drastically changes when a snooping tabloid investigative reporter, Roger, rings their doorbell at the same time as a ship full of magical-trans-dimensional-dark-matter-spiders and a family of alien space pirates come to kidnap the siblings to claim an intergalactic bounty from their space wizard overlords.

Description
Starlite is a color short seven issue series about two teenagers coming of age as former child superheroes.  What happens to a person when their most formative years are filled with fame and superpowers, but as they enter young adulthood those powers, that fame — all of it — is traded for the normal life of being a teenager.  Then some force related to those powers returns, forcing you back into a situation without the access you would have had if you had kept the powers and the fame.

We don’t think that the reality of teen angst and superpowers have been explored.  In this story, we explore the paths of two former child superheroes from the same family.

The intended audience of the book is young adults and adults with alternative lifestyles with a love for comics. Raves, Burners, and Tech Nerds who grew up in the generation of designer drugs and comics of the late nineties and early 2000’s. Due to the nature of the story, anyone who is dealing with PTSD would also be part of our intended audience.

The creative team of Brett, Greg, and Travis are friends who have shared experiences in the rave culture, Burning Man, and at comic conventions. They have worked together as a unit on various things creatively as well as in life. All of them have their individual understanding of the culture so they can each relate and can tell the story.
